The Palace on Wheels has a total of 14 fully air-conditioned deluxe coaches or saloons, 2 restaurants cum kitchen cars, one bar cum lounge and 4 service cars. Kinds of its own in the world, the coaches of the Palace on Wheels are decorated like a beautiful palace. Completely royal in nature, the facilities on the Palace on wheels are comparable to the best of the 5-star hotel facilities. History

The Palace On Wheels started as a unique holiday train hauled by a steam engine with its inaugural trip on 26th January, 1982. It started to roll on its regular operations from October 1982. It was in the eighties when Indian Railway and Rajasthan Tourism decided to work together on a project to

resurrect some of these forgotten symbols of its historic heritage. At the end of each coach is a lounge. Coaches

Schedule and Tariffs

The luxurious Palace on Wheels starts its royal journey on every Wednesday from Delhi Cantonment Railway Station during the cooler months of September to April. Due to hot weather and the time required for renovation and maintenance of its coaches, the train doesn't operate from May to August. Following shows the departure schedule, which will open on every Wednesday from Delhi Cantonment Railway Station from September to April. The royal tour on the Palace on Wheels doesn't cost you much

in comparisons to services and facilities the train offers to its valued guests. Depending on the time of visit, two types of tariff are applicable.
